The Young Futures Award: Phoebe Carr
On 23rd October, at Brierley Hill Civic Centre, Phoebe Carr, a year 12 studying Maths, English Language and literature, and Early Modern History, won the Young Futures Award for her services to the community, including ‘Cranstoun Here4Youth’, ‘Cranstoun Routes’, ‘Dudley CVS’, and ‘Dudley Young Health Champions’.
The Young Futures award is run by Dudley CVS who have a mission to ‘connect, inspire and work alongside people and organisations to achieve resilience and positive change, while championing their value to partners and the wider community. We work together to create a culture which places trust, integrity, humility and caring at the heart of what we do.’ Locations considered in the award included Dudley Central, Dudley North, Brierley Hill, Halesowen and Stourbridge, encompassing a large area that many King Edward VI’s students live in.
Phoebe won the annual Volunteer Award, in recognition of her ‘selfless contribution and for being an inspiration for other young people in Dudley Borough’, winning against other nominees including 1st Wall Heath Scouts, Jane Morgan and Jane Cradock.
When speaking to Phoebe, she spoke proudly of her achievements, “All of the different projects I have been a part of have really helped to shape me as a person, I look forward to my future contributions to the community as it is such a truly wonderful thing to be a part of and the importance of these various topics is held very dear to me.”
Phoebe’s work with mental health and youth support is incredible and serves as inspiration for all.
